What’s better than cracking open a box with a shiny new guitar pedal inside? Cracking open a box with 12 shiny new guitar pedals, that’s what!
And four of those shiny new guitar pedals are from our new brand we’re now carrying, Earthquaker Devices.
Started back in 2004, the story goes that founder and musician Jamie Stillman (the Party of Helicopters, Relaxer, Fringe Candidate, Teeth of the Hydra, Drummer, Harriet the Spy, “New” Terror Class) was trying to nail a copy of the iconic Fuzz Face pedal. 50 versions later he felt he had it, and that was the start of a hobby that launched a decent sized global concern.
Now they offer an amazing set of pedals that run from fantastic overdrives to stuff that you’d really need to spend some time with to make the most of. That’s what we love about them, apart from the quality and quite updating the pedals, it’s that pushing the envelope that we love.
It would be fair to say, the quality of their work is outstanding, and has probably been in some ways responsible for other brands having to up-their-game, but time and again we find players have their expectations exceeded… that’s quite an endorsement.
Like any brand though, it’s not just about brand. You need to find what’s right for you and your style. Many won’t suit you, but some will reward you with something different, and isn’t that part of why we love the boutique pedal world?
Users who trust Earthquaker Devices: Thom Yorke & Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead), Cameron Avery (Tame Impala), Courtney Barnett, Elle Puckett (Lorde), George Pajon (Black Eyed Peas), Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance), Ilan Rubin (Nine Inch Nails), Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), Joey McCellen (Midlake), Joff Oddie (Wolf Alice), Jon Natchez (The War On Drugs) and just a boat load more of influential players. Of course, we’re all looking for our sounds, and just because a great player uses a brand doesn’t mean you need to run out an buy the full range of their pedals, but it gives you a guide to who has a sound you love and how you can then build on that for your own sound.
Check out our range of Earthquaker, we’ll grow the range as we grow, but we can order any new guitar pedal you need as well…
If you’d like any further info, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, we’re always up for a chat about pedals and tone!
