Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive

Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive (SHOD) is a touch sensitive, low-gain overdrive pedal. This beauty is designed to overdrive already distorted amplifiers and also give dynamically controlled light overdrive on clean sounds.

Distortion level can be controlled by pick attack and pickup strength, a trademark of Mad Professor overdrives. Harder picking for overdrive and then softer for a cleaner tone. With the unique Focus control, you can carefully adjust the feel and dynamics of the pedal as well as overall EQ. Turning Focus CCW you’ll need to then play harder to get distortion and the tone is softer, great for jazz and blues. Then with the Focus turned CW it gives a slight treble boost and earlier distortion great for classic rock.

We reckon this overdrive is best suited to classic blues and rock, but it will definitely go heavier when you combine it with an overdriven amp channel.

The Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive works equally as well with humbuckers or single-coils, we’ve heard it produce some great huge-sounding bottom end riffs on a humbucker-loaded Strat for example.

We think, like Mad Professor do, that this is probably a classic in the making, it’s a real keeper.
