When space is tight and every inch on your pedalboard is vital, in scampers the ProCo Lil’ Rat.
The ProCo Lil’ RAT features the same controls and importantly the same tone as the full sized RAT, but at only 2 inches (5cm) wide it’s a space saver! It’s built like a tank though, so no change there, with rear mounted power and audio jacks that again help keep things compact on the pedalboard. At half the size of the standard RAT 2, this pedal conserves valuable pedalboard real estate, and provides full-sized RAT tones, attack and sustain.
The beauty of the Lil’ RAT lies in its versatility. Used as a primary distortion, it truly excels at arena rock rhythm tones and of course those famous RAT soaring leads. Heard on thousands of recordings, it has helped define the sound of the past three decades most influential bands.
Do you have a powerful amp with too much headroom for the gig? Let the Lil’ RAT be your dirty channel instead. Or maybe you already love your amp’s distortion, well just use the Lil’ RAT as a boost for solos and get the extra kick you need.
We also find it great to push a tube amp into richer overdrive, by keeping the gain lower and pushing up the volume on the pedal. Then there’s the filter control…
The Lil’ RAT features the legendary RAT filter control. Turn it clockwise to roll off any brittle high-end frequencies. Or if you’re having trouble cutting through the mix just turn it counter-clockwise and allow the natural brightness of your instrument to shine through.
The Distortion control dials in the perfect amount of gain – from mild overdrive to a full out fuzzy assault the RAT is famous for, and the volume control lets you dial it in just perfectly against your bypassed clean tone.

We are an online store only, so your new pedal has never been demoed on a shop floor or been out on display. We do though test all pedals (and any power supplies where included with pedals) before we send them out to hopefully minimise any hassles of faulty pedals on delivery.
