The gain is set lower than many fuzzes to suit the sound of the era and is more transparent than a typical example of this period. Your guitar will sing with sustain but the underlying sound of your guitar will still shine through.

The next core to this wonder is the delay and modulation side. You have a multi tape delay at your finger or a combination of 4 different modulation sounds. The Dark Side also has subtle filter to get the tape delay to have the feel and warmth of the original machines, but still give you a range of control to have more modern features like expression pedal control. Create feedback oscillation delay and so much more, a great creative tool. Many people use this pedal for the tape delay alone!
